Obituary

Tim A. Koehler

December 21, 1950 – September 3, 2026

Tim A. Koehler, of Bulverde, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2026, at the age of 75 after battling frontotemporal dementia. He leaves behind a legacy of love, friendship, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Tim was born in Valley City, North Dakota, to Russell and Doris Koehler. He attended the University of North Dakota, where he proudly played football for the Fighting Sioux. Following college, he moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he met his lovely wife, Julianne "Juli" Groettum.

Tim and Juli were married in December 1976 and built a life together filled with adventure, family, and lasting friendships. Although Minnesota always remained home in their hearts, Tim's career led them to Texas and Tennessee. In their later years, they returned to Texas to be closer to their children and grandson. This December, they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Tim was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Juli Koehler, and a proud father to his sons, Jake Koehler and Ben Koehler. He was also the father of Krista Anne Koehler, whom they lost in infancy and whose memory remained close to his heart throughout his life. Tim was a loving grandfather to Lucas Koehler, who brought him immense joy and pride.

He is survived by his wife, sons, grandson, and siblings Karla, Todd, and Kelly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Doris Koehler, his daughter, Krista Anne Koehler, and his youngest brother, Kreg Koehler.

Throughout his career Tim earned a respected reputation in the construction materials industry.  He primarily served in technical sales roles within the cement and concrete business.  He was known for his deep technical expertise, strong work ethic, and remarkable ability to build lasting relationships with colleagues and customers alike.

Outside of work, Tim embraced life to the fullest. He enjoyed hunting, boating, and spending time outdoors.  An avid traveler, he loved exploring new places and creating memories with family and friends. He was also a passionate football fan who rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on the Minnesota Vikings and share the excitement of the game with those around him.

Among Tim's greatest joys were gathering family and friends together. Two of his favorite pastimes were entertaining loved ones on the boat and attending annual pheasant hunting trips in South Dakota, traditions that created countless unforgettable memories.

Though he will be deeply missed, Tim's legacy lives on through the family he cherished, the friendships he nurtured, and the many lives he touched throughout his journey. He will be remembered for his loyalty, generosity, sense of humor, and unwavering love for those closest to him.

A service celebrating Tim's life will be held at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on November 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.  A luncheon will follow at Lakewood Cemetery.  Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and honor a man who lived a life defined by love and friendship.

"A life well lived leaves cherished memories that last forever."

Tim will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.

Tim's family is donating his brain to the UT Health San Antonio's Glenn Biggs Institute Brain Bank to support vital research and the pursuit of treatments for neurodegenerative diseases.
