Obituary

Mary Lou Clegg, of San Antonio, TX, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at the age of 78.

Mary Lou was born to parents TG and Elsie Mae (Johnson) Clegg on August 19, 1941. She grew up as the eldest of four and the only girl and graduated from Ball High School in Galveston, TX.

Mary Lou worked as a secretary and office manager, saving money for her dream, to open her own business.  She achieved this dream, combining her love of travel and art, especially photography, with her business skills, and opening Steeplechase Custom Framing in Houston, TX.  After retirement, she moved to Von Ormy, TX to be nearer family and worked part time fact-checking and editing tests.  She enjoyed having more time dedicated to her hobbies, especially reading, watching movies, and attending her beloved church.  Mary Lou will always be remembered for her love of cats, especially orange tabby cats.

Mary Lou is survived by her brother, Raymond Franklin Clegg (wife - Faye); nephew Robert Henrie; niece Dawn White (husband - Terry); great nephews Christopher Henrie and Logan White; and numerous cousins and friends.  She is preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Wayne "Butch" Clegg and Daniel Allen "Danny" Clegg.

A celebration of Mary Lou's life will be held via livestream on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. via YouTube and FaceBook .  The service will be led by Pastor Kim Ethridge, of Oak Island United Methodist Church, where Mary Lou was a long-time member.
