Joseph
Freidberg
Jan 15, 1933 — Feb 11, 2023
Joseph Freidberg was born in Brooklyn, raised in Miami, built his family in Irving TX and lived out his retirement in Cedar Park TX, where he peacefully passed away. In 2019, he was predeceased by Ruth, his bride of 63 years. His greatest passions were family, flying, and football. In his teens, his studies at the Univ. of Miami were put on hold while he served in the Air Force. It was while stationed in Amarillo that he met Ruth and in 1956, they eloped. In 1960, they welcomed their first child, David, five months before Joe received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from U. of M. During their 37 years in Irving, Joe and Ruth added a second child, Marci, to their family and all 4 became very involved in the DFW area. Joe would spend the bulk of his career at LTV in Grand Prairie. Eventually, he earned his M.B.A. at Univ. of Dallas and broadened his career to myriad areas of consulting as a Professional Engineer. He spent a great deal of time working with the Boy Scouts of Troop 729, who met at his religious home, Temple Emanu-El. He helped found the Irving Jewish Fellowship and for at least 35 years, was an active member in S.A.E. In 1999, Joe and Ruth moved to Cedar Park to become "full-time grandparents". Their 19 years in Ruth's dream house were filled with joy, hospitality, love, and lots of activities – from the grandkids' sports and music events to worshipping at Congregation Shir-Ami. Joe is survived by his daughter Marci; his son David (and spouse Janet); 3 grandsons- Ryan (and spouse Vanessa), Nick (and spouse Bridget), and Michael; 2 great-grandchildren- Walker and Clara; and his sister Lorraine, as well as 5 nieces and 4 nephews. He was predeceased by his other sister Selma.
