Obituary

Born to Donald H. and Shirley R. (Horn) Thomas at Ramey AFB in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, was the second daughter of four children.  She attended Clear Spring Elementary, Krueger Middle School, and MacArthur High School.  As the daughter of an Airman, they moved several times around the world until they ended up in San Antonio, Texas.  She was always the first one to run out and find new friends to make.  She was even lost for half an hour once when she went to knock on doors in the new neighborhood and find friends to play with.   She met her husband, Rick Raser, at the age of 16 while they were both working at Whataburger at Windsor Park Mall.  Donna was not his biggest fan at first, but he grew on her, and they quickly became inseparable.  While they didn't have biological kids of her own, she absolutely adored her nieces and nephews, and the feeling was mutual.  She would take them to lunch, out shopping, or just on a (very fast) drive to listen to Sammy Hagar, Pat Benatar, and Huey Lewis to name a few.  Weekends were reserved for each kid to have special one on one time.  When the nieces and nephews had kids of their own, she was just as excited to spoil them.

She attended American Beauty College and went on to be a master stylist for many years.  She created a large client base with her amazing talent and infectiously bubbly personality, who followed wherever she went.  Some clients would drive in from out of town to get their hair styled by her, and many became life-long friends.  Donna eventually left the salon for an office job, where she made a big impact on so many lives.  Her first was as a supervisor for the American Airlines scheduling team.  Through this, she had amazing benefits and was able to take annual trips to Hawaii with Rick.  She absolutely loved to travel, especially to anywhere with a beautiful beach and good margaritas.  Her next job was at InfoNXX, where she was a trainer, and everyone there loved her too.  It was here that she got her niece, Kimmy, a job, and later, trained her future nephew-in-law, Eric.  Donna was instrumental in matchmaking and nurturing their relationship.  She enjoyed her work at Aces Wired as a manager, then spent some time at CAC as a trainer.  After CAC, she was a well-loved supervisor at Harland Clarke for many years, then took a position at Ameritas.

Donna and Rick enjoyed traveling the world together and with friends.  They even ended up hunkering down in the basement of a resort in the Bahamas during a hurricane, but not to worry, there was plenty of gambling and of course they snuck in drinks.  When she wasn't traveling, she loved spending time gardening and looking for even more plants to add to her garden.  One of her favorite weekend activities was driving through the Texas Hill Country with Rick to adopt more plants.  Amongst her greatest joys in life were her fur-babies.  From childhood she always had a canine companion or two by her side and the love for her dogs continued into her adult life. She and Rick raised many pups together and she leaves behind Moose, their beloved Yorkie.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Harold Woodrow "Woody" Thomas II, her grandparents, her father-in-law Roger Raser, and her mother-in-law Lois Sam Raser.  She is survived by her husband Rick Raser, sisters MaryJane (Charles) Harrison and Gale Lynn (Don) Webster, her niece Joli "Joli Junebug"(Jenn) Ransom and their children Benni, Dani, Ian, Nicholas, and William, niece Kimberly "KimmyKat" (Eric) Shaw and their children Riley and Juliana, niece Carly "Carly Bear"(Colin) Castillo and their children David and Robyn, nephew Robert "Robby" "RobDog" Christiansen, nephew Donald "Doni" "Doni Duck" Bourke, Uncle Hilman Ray (Sally) Horn, Aunt Thelma Jean Cremeans, Uncle Terry (Jerilyn) Thomas, Aunt Connie (Frank) Klobucar, and many cousins and friends.
