David Howard Cookerly, 77, passed away on October 11, 2024, in San Antonio, TX. Born on December 23, 1946, David led a distinguished life marked by a profound commitment to service and education. He graduated from Kendallville High School before pursuing higher education at Western Michigan University and later earning a Master's Degree from the University of Oklahoma.

David dedicated 26 years to the U.S. Air Force, where he served as an officer and retired with the rank of full colonel. His military career was characterized by honor, duty, and a deep devotion to his country.
Beyond his military and professional achievements, David was passionate about golf and reading, activities that brought him great joy and relaxation.

David is survived by his daughter, Cheryl A. Bowers (Cookerly); son, Scott A. Cookerly; grandchildren, Sean D. Bowers, Alyssa M. Bowers, Marc A. Cookerly, and Douglas A. Cookerly; sister, Susan E. Armor (Cookerly); and his beloved, Kimberly Linjeris. He was preceded in death by his father, Alford (Howard) Cookerly, and mother, Florence L. Cookerly (Franke).
