Darla Rae Goodrich died on April 21, 2026, surrounded by her family in San Antonio, Texas.

Darla was born in Dallas, Texas on May 10, 1960 to Roy McMahon and Martha McMahon. They moved to Vermont shortly after her birth, where she grew up.

Darla is preceded in death by her father, and brother-in-law Tom Knight, as well as grandparents, and aunts and uncles. She is survived by her long-time partner John Goodrich; her mother Martha; sons Christian Martinez (daughter-in-law Gina Martinez), Kalif Gates (daughter-in-law Leslie Gates), Jared Gates, and Samuel Gates; daughter Sapphire Goodrich; grandchildren Gabriela Martinez, Kurt and Bonnie Gates, Jack and Louie Gates; siblings Shelley, Wendy, and Jeffrey; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Darla graduated from Essex High School, where she played field hockey with her friends who coined the nickname Mac for her. After graduation she joined the U.S. Air Force in 1978 and attended basic training in San Antonio, TX. She was stationed abroad in Spain for a time as a radar technician on aircraft. Darla was also an avid lover of horses, and would spend many hours riding in her youth. She worked in several careers throughout her life including IBM and NEISD before settling into her home with AT&T from which she retired a couple years ago.

Funeral services will be held on Friday June 26, 2026, at Fort Sam Houston, Shelter #5 at 2:45 PM and a celebration of Darla's life on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at her son Kalif's home in Floresville.
